Coming out a year before “The Blair Witch Project”, this mockumentary tells the story of a group of people going into the woods to find the Jersey Devil and only 1 of them coming out. The survivor gets charged with murder and convicted, but the documentary digs deeper into the evidence, and comes up with different conclusions.
This was made pretty well, and felt very authentic. The actors performances were good, and the whole thing felt like a very good (if sensationalized) amateur documentary. Then the ending happened and ruined it all.
All of the mystery of the movie is thrown away in a “twist” that tears the plot full of holes and left me mad that I wasted time watching it. I’m only giving it a skull because the movie is pretty good up until the twist, but otherwise, nah.
