When a movie gives you as good of a first scene as this one does, you’re going to expect a great payoff for the rest of the film. Unfortunately, what you get is a very slow moving and introspective character study that is never really that interesting. There are a couple of cool stand-out scenes, but it moves at a snails pace between them.
The actors are the best part of this, which makes sense because the whole movie was riding on the shoulders of their performances, The two leads bring their characters to life really well, and the other people that wander in and out are very well constructed and executed. However, it really felt like they just didn’t do anything.
I really wanted to like this one more than I did. It gave me a lot to look forward to but never really delivered.
