Strangely enough, I didn’t know what the premise for this movie was going into it (despite literally all the marketing). For that reason, I had some really awesome moments while watching Companion that I don’t think would have been the same had I known. Even if I had, though, I still think I would have really liked this one.
There are several twists and turns to keep the plot interesting, and they just keep coming. There’s some predictability, but there’s enough subversion of expectations that I never felt like I really knew what was going to happen. Actor’s performances are across the board pretty good, although I’m finding myself liking Jack Quaid less, I don’t really know why. Maybe because he’s just playing himself in everything, but it’s good to at least see him in a kind of a fresh-er role. I’m also glad that Sophie Thatcher seems to be embracing genre film roles.
