So, I was planning on watching another movie here, but I couldn’t find a way to watch it, so I pulled this from my subs. I feel like I MIGHT have seen this one before, but I certainly didn’t remember anything about it, so I went ahead and let it ride.
Pontypool takes place entirely within the confines of a Radio station and most of the events outside the station you hear about from someone reporting from the outside. I guess it’s a Zombie movie; it has a lot of the same trappings of one, but it’s not entirely the kind of zombie movie you’re used to. There’s plenty of (functionally) mindless humans walking around looking to do violence on the unaffected, to the point of smashing in their own brains to try and reach people behind glass. However, there’s a pretty fresh, if not altogether palatable reason for everything that’s happening. It’s not really enough (in my opinion) to carry the rest of the generic and bland plot.
There are some cool aspects of Pontypool if you really like Zombie movies, but overall this one hung all it’s hats on one thing then couldn’t really deliver.
