One of my more anticipated films this year, Bring Her Back had one of the more scary trailers of anything else on my list. I still didn’t know what the movie was about though until I watched it. Man, it’s pretty dark; dead kids, not quite dead kids, adults gaslighting kids. It really doesn’t relent with the horrifying imagery. It also keeps things mysterious enough to make you think “wtf?” while still giving you enough of the story to speculate upon.
The movie is carried by the story, which is fine because it’s great. I really liked how there are some things left unanswered at the end that really make it feel Lovecraftian. Like here’s some normal people who’s lives are brushing up against some horrifying stuff.
I thought the performances were all good, but the standout is, of course, Jonah Wren Phillips as Ollie.
