I don’t remember seeing anything about this movie at all, other than Kristen Stewart’s platinum blonde crew cut officially marking the end of her Bella days. I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of it, since it’s a pretty solid sci-fi/horror survival film. Also, without spoiling anything, it’s sits right in my wheelhouse.
The movie starts with Stewart’s character quietly preparing for bed in an underwater drilling facility when suddenly hell breaks loose. From there, you follow her and others as they try and escape while figuring out what is happening. The movie’s POV is always around her, even if the events aren’t. It keeps that tight perspective, and does it really well.
I don’t think there’s a lot of groundbreaking stuff happening in this movie, but I think it takes some unique and interesting approaches to a lot of things which elevates it over other similar movies.
