I thought this was going to be a pretty straightforward Werewolf movie, and in a lot of ways it really is. At it’s heart though, it’s an intimate story of a family with some very heavy problems told through the eyes of a small girl. One of the problems is the fact that her dad is a werewolf…maybe? He’s also pretty violent and an abuser, but is that part of it? It’s pretty vague because of the Little Girl POV of most of the film, which adds to the mystery of the story and also the tension during the darker scenes.
It all plays out in a not-super-surprising way and then the ending introduces more questions, but wraps up the story pretty tightly.
I wasn’t super impressed with much of what is happening here, but it seems like they kept their ambitions realistic and delivered a nice little horror story.
