It will build up a very tense &#8220;Final Destination&#8221; style scene and then hit you with an exploding person like a pie to the face.  It&#8217;s a well done movie, but feels like the script was a Mad Lib being completed by 13 year olds.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-header-background-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-471db100a334c6eabfeb81e02f93f27b\">That being said, it wasn&#8217;t entirely unenjoyable. There are a lot of cool scenes where the Monkey is seen more abstractly or where it is almost a force of nature rather than a cursed toy. These parts I thought were a really cool way to make The Monkey seem like the huge evil looming over everyone that it was being made out as.  I also like the plot between the brothers, when you eventually find out that emotional trauma is basically fueling the death plague (and then they kinda ruin it with a bowling ball), but the father son story line is just &#8220;meh&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-header-background-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-67af1c7f67b97ec8dfef361f77be4137\">This is a good party movie because the kills, though somewhat random and disconnected from the story, are pretty cool.
