OK, I have no idea who Bowser was and had never watched his YouTube videos, but this is a full length movie featuring a character from some of his videos. The character is a young, geeky man who is kind of a loser, and he ends up getting mixed up in some Satanic stuff.
There’s not a lot to talk about here, it’s a pretty straightforward indie comedy horror movie, and you’ll groan as much as you’ll laugh. The character of Onyx is pretty funny and cring-ey, but can be a little annoying. The production values are fairly high quality and somehow stars Jeffery Combs, Barbara Crampton and Olivia Taylor Dudley (one of the leads from the series The Magicians). There are also some pretty cool practical effects/make-up that I appreciated.
It feels like a lot giving it a 4, so I think I’ll keep it at a 3, but I definitely enjoyed myself. If you’re a fan of awkward comedy, check it out. Also, you can find his channel on YouTube, where he edits himself into news segments about Arby’s and they’re pretty funny.
